The Work and the Why

Born and raised in Irvine, California, I’ve slowly inched my way up the Pacific Coast — collecting stories, experiences, and inspiration along the way. I was lucky to grow up in what was once a small town, had my early-adult heyday singing in a Grateful Dead cover band in Los Angeles, and later raised my amazing daughter on California’s Central Coast in Los Osos.

From there, I set out to venture north and overshot where I meant to land by about 200 miles. Seattle was a wonderful chapter, but Vancouver, Washington is where I’ve happily settled for the past six years — and unless Canada finally accepts me (I am a devoted hockey fan, after all), I’m here to stay.

Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. If you’d like a glimpse into that journey, you can explore my gallery, which includes pieces spanning back to the 1970s.

All my life, I’ve been drawn to vibrant color. As a child, I could lose myself wandering through stationery and art stores, captivated by anything that came in every shade imaginable. Over time, I realized it wasn’t the objects themselves — it was the color.

I just wanted to live inside the rainbow.

When I discovered water marbling, it felt as though all those colors had finally found their way to me. While not every piece reflects the full spectrum, more often than not I begin with a simple palette and end up floating nearly every color. The process has a mind of its own, and I love where it leads.

My work has always lived within the realm of mixed media, but I ultimately found my true passion in water marbling, also known as Ebru. Each piece is shaped by movement, chance, and intuition — making every print a one-of-a-kind expression of flow and color.

If you see something you love but wish it fit your own color story a bit better, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to explore custom options and create something truly special just for you.

As a sommelier, aka "Sammelier"......

Here's the deal. The best wine is your favorite wine, no matter what container it comes in. I'm not here to tell you how to and what to drink, I'm here to help you enjoy the wines you love even more. Join me in learning about what makes wine such an amazing experience, even though it's all just  old grape juice.

I can meet at wineries and taste, I can come to your home or office for tasting or lessons, or create an experience that will make lasting memories for birthdays, anniversaries, wedding showers, and the like!
