A brief synopsis of how this all came to be...
Born and raised in Irvine, California, I’ve slowly inched my way up the Pacific Coast collecting stories, experiences, and inspiration, along the way. I was lucky to grow up in what was the a pretty small town, had my early-adult heyday singing in a Grateful Dead cover band in Los Angeles, and later raised my amazing daughter on California’s Central Coast in Los Osos.
From there, I set out to venture north and overshot where I meant to land by about 200 miles. Seattle was a wonderful chapter, but Vancouver, Washington is where I’ve happily settled for the past six years.
Marbling and Lampshade Design
Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been drawn to vibrant colors. As a child, I could lose myself wandering through stationery and art stores, captivated by anything that came in the full rainbow gradient of every shade imaginable. Over time, I realized it wasn’t the objects themselves, pens, paints, paper, etc., it was the colors of each of them.
I just wanted to live inside a rainbow.
When I discovered water marbling, it felt as though all those colors had finally found their way to me. While not every piece reflects the full spectrum, more often than not I begin with a simple three to four color palette but inevitably end up floating every color.
The process has a mind of its own and I love where it leads me.
My work has always lived within the realm of mixed media, but I ultimately found my true passion in marbling and lampshade design. Each marble is shaped by movement, chance, and intuition, making every piece a one-of-a-kind expression of flow and color. Each lampshade incorporates marbled fabrics or paper and is then decorated with other fabrics, trims, and beads, to create illuminated art that you'll never see anywhere else.
